South Central Kansas MLS Releases Home Sales Figures for October 2023

Home sales in South Central Kansas rose by 0.4% in October compared to the prior year. Sales in
October 2023 totaled 791 units, up from 788 in 2022.

Among existing homes, 726 units sold in October, an increase of 0.8% from 720 units that sold in 2022.
The average sale price of existing homes was $214,988. This represents a decrease of 6.2% from the
October 2022 average price of $229,267.

For new construction, 65 sales occurred in October, down from 68 units the prior year, a decrease of
4.4%. The average sale price of new homes in October was $374,712, down 10.5% from the same period
last year.

A total of 706 contracts for sale were written in October 2023, up from 697 in October 2022. This is an
increase of 1.3%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the
near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 1,578 units at the end of October, which
is up from 1,195 homes that were on the market at the end of October last year. At the current rate of
sales, this figure represents 2.0 months’ supply of homes on the market.
