South Central Kansas MLS Releases Home Sales Figures for August 2023

Home sales in South Central Kansas fell by 14.6% in August compared to the prior year. Sales in August
2023 totaled 937 units, down from 1,097 in 2022.

Among existing homes, 850 units sold in August, a decrease of 15.4% from 1,005 units that sold in 2022.
The average sale price of existing homes was $239,888. This represents an increase of 5.0% from the
August 2022 average price of $228,469.

For new construction, 87 sales occurred in August, down from 92 units the prior year, a decrease of
5.4%. The average sale price of new homes in August was $394,244, down 16.1% from the same period
last year.

A total of 848 contracts for sale were written in August 2023, down from 950 in August 2022. This is a
decrease of 10.7%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the
near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 1,476 units at the end of August, which
is up from 1,029 homes that were on the market at the end of August last year. At the current rate of
sales, this figure represents 1.9 months’ supply of homes on the market.
