South Central Kansas MLS Releases Home Sales Figures for December 2022

Home sales in South Central Kansas fell by 31.1% in December compared to the prior year. Sales in December 2022 totaled 683 units, down from 991 in 2021.

Among existing homes, 608 units sold in December, a decrease of 32.6% from 902 units that sold in 2021. The average sale price of existing homes was $217,086. This represents an increase of 8.0% from the December 2021 average price of $201,072.

For new construction, 75 sales occurred in December, down from 89 units the prior year, a decrease of 15.7%. The average sale price of new homes in December was $437,201, up 4.8% from the same period last year.

A total of 533 contracts for sale were written in December 2022, down from 692 in December 2021. This is a decrease of 23.0%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 1,043 units at the end of December, which is up from 732 homes that were on the market at the end of December last year. At the current rate of sales, this figure represents 1.2 months’ supply of homes on the market
